International Journal of Advanced Innovative Technology in Engineering (IJAITE)A Review for Vibration Effect on Heavy Duty King-Pin and Reasons of Failures Monali Arun Zope, Prof. A. S. Bharule Abstract : The modern heavy duty vehicle is robust in design and load bearing capacities. They often have to bear heavy loads and should deal with rough road conditions. But still, they work efficiently. The reason behind that is the reliable spare parts and their maintenance. Their steering and suspension systems also work in very rough road conditions. Hence, they must have quality spare parts. King pin attached to the front axle and hub is also an important component of the steering and suspension system. It is the most reliable part which has very little maintenance and longer life. Metallurgy used while manufacturing this part provides lots of strength, toughness, wear resistance, etc. But still, sometimes king pin failure due to the sudden jerks or pits on road arises. There are many other reasons for failure. In this paper, the vibrational effect is tested with the help of available literature and the CAE tool. The natural frequency range is obtained by using the FEM package. Mode shape results along with their possible deformation in each mode are also generated. The CAD model is generated in CATIA V5R19 software and ANSYS 14.5 is used as a FEM tool. As per the generated results, the conclusive statement is written. Keywords :
