Abstract :

Material waste has been identified as a major problem in the construction industry. Studies from various sites confirmed that even the materials that are least wasted like glass, electrical fixtures, paints, etc. represent a relatively certain percentage of construction cost. These materials also have an adverse effect on the environment. Materials are very important on building sites, and all the materials that are delivered are not used for the purposes which they had been ordered and disappearance of these materials constitutes a part of the waste and it has a negative effect on the environment and also affects the contractor’s profitability. The study highlights the importance of waste management in construction, the amount of waste generated in construction projects, methods of minimizing waste, and the best methods involved in construction industries to minimize waste.
