Abstract :

This review paper comprehensively examines the design, performance, and applications of Diffuser Augmented Wind Turbines (DAWT). DAWTs have garnered significant attention due to their potential to enhance wind energy capture efficiency in both onshore and offshore environments. This paper presents an overview of the fundamental principles underlying DAWT operation, including diffuser design, aerodynamics, and performance enhancement mechanisms. Various design configurations and optimization strategies are discussed, along with insights into the impact of diffuser geometry on turbine performance. Additionally, the paper explores real-world applications of DAWTs, highlighting their suitability for urban, rural, and offshore wind energy projects. Future research directions and challenges in the field are also addressed, emphasizing the need for further studies to optimize DAWT performance and accelerate their widespread adoption in renewable energy systems.
