International Journal of Advanced Innovative Technology in Engineering (IJAITE)Design and Analysis of Motor cycle Helmet Using Composite Material Mr. Manoj Ambadas Kharat, Prof. P. P. Kulkarni Abstract : In recent times, due to the rapidly growing population, traffic congestion, and a lack of parking space, two-wheelers have become the most popular mode of transportation. According to Indian traffic rules, wearing a helmet is mandatory for safety while riding a two-wheeler. To enhance rider safety, helmets are equipped with a lightweight plastic exterior, a protective polystyrene layer, and urethane comfort padding. Wearing helmets for an extended duration in summer is challenging due to the high temperature rise and inadequate ventilation, leading to increased stress levels for humans. This study deals with the design of helmets that are available in the market and how are they performing to the standards of different testing scenarios. A comparative analysis has also been done taking three different materials like Carbon Fiber, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester resin (GFRP) and analysing how they perform on a similar loading condition. The main purpose of this study is to give an insight on how the materials perform on given conditions and which will be a comparatively better option to be chosen. Keywords :
