Design Of External Pressurized Gas Bearing

Abstract :

This paper design and development of external pressurized gas bearing which are the application of High Speed Machines. High Power density Electrical Block, Dental application, Turbo chargers ,rocket engines and flywheel are the most high speed application of external pressurized gas bearing.The major problem associated among high speed machines is frequent bearing failure. This is primarily because of the large number of cyclic loading the conventional bearing has to withstand. on the other hand Gas bearings are contact less bearings where the fluid film formed bears all the load and is continuously expelled out the system. This theoretically makes them completely wear free and renders them with a life of more than 15-20 years. Keywords – Flywheel, Capillary restrictor, Shaft
